How To Organize Your Dance Committee

Organizing Your Committee

5 Simple Steps to Organizing Your Dance Committee

STEP 1: Delegate Responsibility The dance committee leader divides the dance committee members into six sub-committees. (see chart above)

STEP 2: Educate Members Everyone on each of the six sub-committee should first read the chapter in the textbook that pertains to their sub-committee.

STEP 3: Members Work Independently
Sub-committee members from all six sub-committees go out on an information gathering process and fill out the appropriate worksheets in the back of this textbook.

STEP 4: Members Work as a Team At the next dance committee meeting all six sub-committee members will share the information from their filled out worksheets with the other dance committee members. The group then decides as a whole what to do with the information. As an example, the people who were asked to interview a D.J. now have three quotes from three different D.J. companies. The dance committee talks it over and picks the best D.J. company for their dance.

STEP 5: Hit the Goal The method in this textbook will help your dance committee plan a super dance.

Note: The dance committee leader is usually an adult. When organizing an Elementary school dance, the dance committee members might all be adults. Middle Schools, High Schools and Colleges should have dance committee members who are students.

Here's an example

  • A student from the dance committee is assigned to sub-committee 1 "Rules and Regulations".
  • The student gains knowledge on her topic by reading chapter one in the textbook.
  • She meets with the principal and discusses the school rules.
  • The student is interviewing the principal using a worksheet found in the back of this textbook.
  • Student brings the filled out worksheet to the dance committee meeting.
  • She shares the information listed on her worksheet with the rest of the dance committee.
  • The dance committee then plans a fun dance that complies with the school rules.

Here's the rest of the example

The dance committee members from the other five sub-committees have also read the chapter in the textbook that pertains to their sub-committee and are out on their own fact finding missions. They will be collecting valuable information with the help of the worksheets found at the back of this textbook. Members explain the information found on their worksheet to the other dance committee members. So the whole dance committee is working as a team. This textbook teaches everyone what they should be doing to contribute to this team.
